What to do if there is an error on the printout of the certified translation?

Certified translations are a service that we have recently been providing primarily for foreigners. This is, of course, due to the influx of Ukrainian citizens into Poland, along with legal immigrants from the Middle East, Asia, and Africa.

This type of translation is characterised by the fact that it is accepted by the wider public administration. Typically, translations of documents such as birth certificates, death certificates, criminal records, school certificates and diplomas, court judgments and orders, as well as medical documentation are certified.

Due to the fact that certified translations are performed by humans, errors may sometimes occur in them. And this is not a state of emergency - people, including qualified sworn interpreters, simply make mistakes sometimes.

Don't panic, it's not the end of the world

We acknowledge that any potential error in a certified document submitted to an office, university, bank, or any other institution requiring a certified translation is an unnecessary complication. Among other things, this is why we use the two-pair-of-eyes rule and other techniques to reduce the risk of this happening.

However, if there is an error in the translation made by Berlineo, you need not worry. In every case of a justified complaint, we are obliged to rectify any defects. In each case, we make every effort to ensure that the client receives a corrected translation promptly.

Guidelines for dealing with errors in translation

If you have personally placed an order for a translation in which an error has crept in, all you need to do is contact us by telephone or email and provide the following information: your name, the year and month when the order was completed, and details of where the error occurred.

When doing so, please note that in the case of names (including first names) originally written in an alphabet other than Latin, a transliteration into Latin must be provided.

It is good practice to use the official transliteration from the passport, both when placing an order and during any subsequent contact regarding a complaint, a copy, or any other matter related to the translation service provided.

The name is sufficient to identify the client and their orders. In practice, however, it is best to take a scan or photo of the translation that needs to be corrected and attach it to the message. This will significantly speed up the processing of the request.

For popular languages, we issue the revised document on the same day. When the case involves a less common language combination, the time to process the complaint is longer and can be up to a few working days.

In the context of the above, it should be mentioned that, due to the Data Protection Policy taking into account the GDPR regulations, we cannot, without written authorisation, provide a translation to a person other than the original ordering party or the person to whom the translated document refers.
